My obsession with cooking started at a young age. I remember, like it was yesterday.... Seeing my grandmother and her sisters cooking up a feast for our family gatherings. The passion in their eyes while singing and dancing to the merengue flowing from the radio. The smell of spices fills the air, hits your senses and immediately makes your mouth water! I loved how proud they looked serving their family and seeing the enjoyment on the faces of people they love.
My grandmother taught me all her recipes, many I still use to this day. She was born and raised in Sabana Grande Puerto Rico (big name small town!) where she currently still resides in her childhood home. I myself had the opportunity to live in Sabana Grande and learn the real island flavors of Puerto Rico.
My passion for cooking and my love for my families' traditions has inspired me to create La Blanquita .The name meaning "the white girl" I thought it would be perfect since it's what most people called me growing up.
La Blanquita offers homemade traditional Puerto Rican cuisine inspired by all the flavors of Puerto Rico. With a little modern twist to appeal to all tastes.
Being able to teach my children about their heritage and passing down recipes from generation to generation is a blessing. I want to keep my culture alive and share it with as many people as possible.
